Blogging through the Gospels: Day 6~~ How to be Wise?

I am participating in the new bible reading plan by Moms Tool Box, it is called Reading through the gospels. I am participating so that I can be with the Lord and so He will show me ALL about His SON. I love digging in and prayerfully examining His words, thoughts and intents, that is why I will be using the SOAP devotion study tool as I read through the gospels.

Saturday, April 9th~~Day 6: Matthew 7

S= Scripture:

24“Therefore (V)everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.

O= Observation:

Reflecting on this verse we have to ask ourselves, what words of Jesus’ do we need to hear and act on? This verse also tells us that if we act on these words of his than we are acting wisely!

A= Application:

As so many times in God’s word we have to look at the whole chapter take a verse and see it as how it fits in with the BIG picture of God’s word. So I will look in the verses above the one I chose to find out what ‘words’ I need to act on.

1.  Deal with your own sins, imperfections, faults, mistakes than God might choose to use you to minister to someone else.

5“You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

2. God wants us to come to him  with all our concerns, thoughts, thanksgivings, needs, wants, sins, etc. When you do you will receive what God knows to be the best for you.

7(F)Ask, and (G)it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

11“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, (H)how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

3. Teat people the same way you want them to treat you,

12“In everything, (I)therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for (J)this is the Law and the Prophets.

4. Be careful of people who claim to know God and his son yet do not bear good fruit. If a person does to bear fruit than they have never really accepted God and his gift of salvation

15“Beware of the (L)false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are (M)ravenous wolves.

16“You will (N)know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?

17“So (O)every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

18“A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.

19(P)Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20“So then, you will know them (Q)by their fruits.

21(R)Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

22(S)Many will say to Me on (T)that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’

23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; (U)DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

P= Prayer:

Oh, Lord stir me to really listen to your words and to act on them so that I will be as that wise builder!!

Reflection:

Even the demons believe in God and His son Jesus. In my heart I truly believe there is a living breathing difference between one that believes as the demons do and one that believes unto salvation. When a person believes unto salvation; they have accepted Jesus as their Lord, they submit to his authority, they act on his words, they pursue a closer relationship with him, they love as he does, they forgive as he does, and they allow him to do the work in them of bearing fruit.
