Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.~~Philippians 4:4-9
Now isn’t this one of the best reasons to Home school; it is for me! Though, I will go further to say isn’t this the best reason to Intentionally watch over and protect our children in the very best way we can no matter what the situation is or what type of schooling journey your child is traveling.
Whether our children are with us or away from us; we should do our best to Intentionally present them with opportunities to see and hear things that are true, noble, just, lovely, good, praiseworthy and to protect them from the things that are the opposite. That is not always easy in the world we live in today but just because it isn’t easy doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do it. The problem is that this world ‘s definition of what is pure, good, and true has become completely different than God’s true definition of those things. Our desire as parents should be to Intentionally search out God’s thoughts on this, and choose to stand on them no matter what. I appreciate the opportunities that I have been given to help my boys live out these scriptures through the direction of the Holy Spirit; by sharing God every day with them, praying with them, being forgiving and seeking forgiveness from them when that is what is right, by choosing carefully what t.v. shows, movies, cartoons, books they see and the music they hear, and also by home schooling them so that we can Intentionally focus on God and His ways more.
I encourage you to meditate on these scriptures. Are you providing your children with the opportunities to live out these scriptures in their own lives? I pray that God continues to give you and I the wisdom, grace and strength to do just that!!
