Christmas: To Celebrate or NOT to Celebrate, that is the question!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Yes, for me the day after Thanksgiving begins the Christmas Season. This season and particularly Christmas day (Dec. 25th) is the time that was set aside a long time ago for the whole body of Christ in unity to celebrate and honor the gift from GOD the FATHER to the world. This gift is the Messiah, the promised one, which is HIS son, and GOD himself in the flesh.
Yes, there is no proof that Dec 25 is actually the day of JESUS’ birth. Yes, it is a fact that in the bible GOD did not tell us to designate a day to honor JESUS’ birth. Yes, it is a fact other religions have celebrated their beliefs around this date or even on it. Yes, it is a fact there are things associated with Christmas that have nothing to do with JESUS, and some say that these things are actually very similar to things that pagans have done in the past. All those facts do NOT change the truth that at it’s core (the heart of the matter), Christmas is just another opportunity to honor GOD for who HE is and all that HE has done for us through JESUS!!
I actually think Christmas is a great opportunity to do what GOD called HIS people to do, which is to “GO tell”!! Celebrating Christmas is a great opportunity to tell people the whole story of JESUS, which is the gospel. The whole story needs to include HIS birth but we shouldn’t end it there. We need to tell who JESUS is, why HE came, how HE came to be, what HE did while HE was here on earth in the flesh, and what HIS coming, living, dying and being resurrected means for all that will believe!! If you are a fellow believer in JESUS, please follow you your convictions in reference to Christmas: celebrate it to honor JESUS, celebrate it as just a fun, silly holiday, or don’t have anything to do with it! Let US ALL be at peace with each other, stand together in JESUS, pray for one another and work out OUR OWN salvation (not each others) with fear and trembling!!

The ONE whose birth I celebrate at what we call Christmas, was born with a purpose!! HE was born as flesh, yet HE was also fully GOD. HE was born so that GOD could walk with us to reveal HIMSELF, as a FATHER, a friend, Savior and reveal HIS NEW Covenant in more detail. … Continue reading »

And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth. John 1:14 Where have I seen Jesus this … Continue reading »
