Blogging through the Gospels: Matthew 15~~Heart Condition

I am participating in the new bible reading plan by Moms Tool Box, it is called Reading through the gospels. I am participating so that I can be with the Lord and so He will show me ALL about His SON. I love digging in and prayerfully examining His words, thoughts and intents, that is why I will be using the SOAP devotion study tool as I read through the gospels.

Monday, April 18th~~ Matthew 15

“But (M)the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. Matthew 15:18

It is what comes out from the heart that makes one unclean not what goes into the stomach.

To defile means:

1) to make common

a) to make (Levitically) unclean, render unhallowed, defile, profane

b) to declare or count unclean

It always comes down to the heart. If we want what comes out of our heart to be good, holy, admirable, praiseworthy, true, noble and clean than we have to make sure we are putting exactly that kind of stuff into our heart.

Oh, father create in me a clean heart and a right spirit. I only want good clean stuff to come out of my heart so please give me wisdom to know what is best for me to think on, listen to, watch, talk about, read so that I will produce that which is pleasing in your sight.
