B90 SOAP Day 30 devotion: I feel a little torn


I was inspired to use SOAP by the same wonderful ministry that offers the Bible in 90 Days Challenge!!

Today’s reading 1 Chronicles 10-23

As I read today I felt a little torn, on one hand it was great to read these ‘reviews’ of what has already taken place with a sense of familiarity. I felt connected to what was taken place because I had already read this account of our history. Though on the other hand I also felt anxious about moving ahead to something new.

Ah, I don’t like it when I am not content or satisfied with the current situation. How many times in life have I felt that way. When I didn’t just sit, wait and rest in the Lord. I tried to move ahead into something new, something else, something I felt was better or needed right then and there.

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-13

Oh, Lord I pray as I am reading your word and as I live this life you have allowed me to have, I will walk in the patience I do have through your Holy Spirit. I pray that like Paul I will learn to be content no matter the circumstance. I pray that I will take it one verse, one chapter, one book and one day at a time with you Lord. That I will be open to your voice, your direction, your ways and that I will choose to obey you no matter what!!

Gal 5:22But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness,23Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [[f]that can bring a charge].24And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires.25If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit [g]we have our life in God, let us go forward [h]walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]
