I was inspired to use SOAP by the same wonderful ministry that offers the Bible in 90 Days Challenge!!
Bible Reading for these two days Exodus 15-40
Exodus 25:8-9 (New King James Version)
And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.
Details Matter to God and they should matter to us! As we read in the scripture above we see that God is telling them to build HIM a place so that HE can dwell with them but they have to make it EXACTLY how HE tells them to build. Basically it was HIS way or no way! When you continue to read further from Exodus 25-40 you see in very precise detail the plans that God had for His dwelling place. I have to admit these descriptive details, especially since most of them were repeated, were not my favorite part of these readings BUT I kept telling myself God made sure they were included in HIS word for a reason. I believe the reason is that DETAILS MATTER!
It mattered to God what the tabernacle looked like, what size it was, what color it was, what materials and tools were used. It mattered what the priest wore and it mattered what the clothes looked like and what it was made from. The details mattered for everything in the tabernacle, for the ones that would go in and the ones that would come close. It mattered that God had the details of almost all His instructions for everything written out twice in the bible. Why did all these details matter? I can’t say that I know all of God’s reasons why this all mattered but I sure can tell it does matter or He wouldn’t have created such detail and had all this detail written out. I do believe that the one clear message for me is that DETAILS MATTER.
Obedience is a given! What God is saying to me through pointing out that HIS DETAILS MATTER, is that Obedience in all the details of HIS word matter, obedience in all the details of my life matter! It is very important to HIM that we live our life for HIM “According to all that HE has shown us, ”
My prayer is that I will really SEE, HEAR and KNOW all of HIS details and that I am OBEDIENT to them all.
