There is just something wonderful about having a group of women or even just one woman who you can spend time with and talk about things you have in common. It doesn’t matter if it’s something as serious as your faith, church, ministries, parenting, home schooling or something as trivial as a movie, book, a new place to go for a walk or just something funny. Having another woman to share with, confide in and listen to is a true gift from God. When a woman can also be called a friend you are doubly blessed. Having someone who you have something in common with and that you can trust with your thoughts, your words and your feelings is a very special thing.
My husband is absolutely wonderful but there are somethings that I am interested in, that he just isn’t. There are also some things that a woman would appreciate that a man wouldn’t. That doesn’t bother me at all. I appreciate my husband for so many reasons but I do think that God has blessed me through my life with wonderful friendships with other woman because He knew that I would appreciate it!!
I pray that you also have women in your life that you can call friends. If you do than you have to know what I am trying to say. I urge you to thank the Lord for your friends; past and present. I also want to encourage you to let your friend(s) know that you truly appreciate them. You never know when God may open the door for a new friendship, so be open to the new people who come into your life. It may be someone you accidently meet, a visitor at church, a new member of your home school group, a new co-worker, etc. God may even send you someone who seems completely different from you. Different can be scary but it can also be a very good thing! God can use our friendships to speak to us, help us, teach us, stretch us and maybe even correct us. I pray you have eyes that see how blessed you are when you have many friends in your life but even if you don’t have many, one will do just fine but please hold tight to that one!
I will leave you with these words to reflect on
to have a friend, you must first be a friend.
The righteous should choose his friends carefully, For the way of the wicked leads them astray.-Proverbs 12:26
Ointment and perfume delight the heart, And the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by hearty counsel.-Proverbs 27:9
As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.-Proverbs 27:17
A friend loves at all times,………….Proverbs 17:17
A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.-Proverbs 18:24
