One Proud Tiger Cub Scout

We joined a local Home School Cub Scout Pack this week. My husband mentioned that he thought boy scouts would be great for the boys. Well, I started researching and found out elementary age is actually Cub Scouts. This local group only meets twice a month and the Tiger Cubs that my son is in only gets together occasionally so we didn’t feel it would put a burden on us. I took my son to a meeting this past Tuesday to check it out and he LOVED it. The other Tigers were really nice to him. We went on Wednesday to get his uniform and he was so proud!!! I have to say I am also very proud of him!!! =o) My youngest can not actually be a Cub Scout for two more years but he will get to join in on some of the activities because this group is very family friendly!! It’s also great because so many things that the Scouts are trying to teach the kids goes right along with what and how we teach our boys!!

Cub Scouting means “doing.” Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Many of the activities happen right in the den and pack. The most important are the weekly den meetings and the monthly pack meetings. Apart from the fun and excitement of Cub Scout activities, the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy’s sense of belonging.–From the Cub Scout Article on the Boy Scout Site
