This little guy my boys found this evening. Of course they want to keep it. I just don’t know. I spent at least 1/2 hr if not longer with my field guides and on the internet trying to identify it. I feel about 90% sure that it is an Eastern Box Turtle. I guess we’ll keep it at least for a couple of days to observe it =o) Here are some links in case your interested: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/cs-easternboxie.htm http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/1454/aspets.html
This is our baby Phoebe. She is in a nest under our back porch. I am worried about it’s siblings because I haven’t seen any other head pop up since they hatched. To see the rest of my post about our visitors the Phoebe’s click on this link: http://theonethingps274.blogspot.com/
My Oldest took this picture this afternoon. This little guy was trying to sneak up and get on our bird feeder.
This is a BEAUTIFUL Male Indigo Bunting. We spotted one of these birds for the first time this spring earlier in the week. Since that time we have spotted a couple of different ones even at the same time. We have also been blessed to see the female who is beautiful in her own way. This bird is just another way that God our creator threw us some amazing color to enjoy!! We just love these little birds!! At this link you can learn all about them and hear their song: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Indigo_Bunting.html
